I’ve always heard good things about the Leatherman Wave, but not until not did I really ‘get it’. This thing truly is a great multi-tool, and if you are looking to get a once-in-a-lifetime Leatherman, this might just be one of my favorites – check it out!

  1. I have mine (first “non-lockable model”) since 25 years (EDCarried since); used for more than 12 years on a sail boat… It was worn out badly (“2/5 of the blades remaining”, “3 screw drivers broken and repaired several times”, “pliers with play but completely usable” ecc…).

Some years ago, i met a “Leatherman representative” in a shop (of a friend of mine) and gave the WAVE to him.

Two weeks after, i got it back with “3 new screw drivers”, “2 new blades”, “1 new file”, “1 new plier”… #!!!FreeOfCharges!!!

In more than 2 decades i have bought an average “one of their multitool every year” (maybe more), mostly “to gift to other people”; this is my way to thank Leatherman for their work.

    P.S.

i have owned/used EXTENSIVELY all other “multitool brands” (and broken most of them IN NO TIME) – Gerber was the most overpriced GARBAGE ever tested, even worse than “10 euro Chinese copy” -; the only two brands that i like and trust are LEATHERMAN and VICTORINOX (Leatherman first, Victorinox after).

  2. Love mine, but I hated carrying in the holster on my belt.
So I bought one of the attachable pocket-clips. They’re awesome!
    Really easy to install.

  3. I swapped from the surge ( which is the king hands down best multi tool you will ever own… to the wave for the best hands down multitool you will ever own.. that wont make your belt sag… LOL the surge is over 1 LB!!!!

  4. I EDC the Surge which I got a pawn shop for $45. I’ve also used the SOG pads tool and Gerber’s pliers OTF multi tool. It’s leatherman all the way. In the spring I snapped on of the plier ends and Leatherman replaced it even though I broke it while prying.

The Leatherman Crunch has locking pliers similar to vice grips. The welders I work with carry them.
