Hi, my name is Lilly and I like spending time in nature to practice my survival and bushcraft skills. This is a holistic survival channel which means that besides wilderness survival I also do modern survival videos. Sometimes I use modern tools which people might have at hand in a real survival situation. Also all of my videos are pre-recorded, which mean that they do not get released immediately after I film then. That is why seasons in the video can differ from actual seasons. Thanks for watching ~ Survival Lilly

    1. +Survival LIlly Have you considered archery hunting in a country where it is permitted? Having shot both styles, I find that being able to aim instinctively is a transferable skill between the two. Sights seem to complicate things, so I don’t use them. Nice video today. Cheers.

    2. Traditional bows have always been my favorite I like the recurve the longbow handcrafted or hand made bows made to exact preferences make a big difference in accuracy. Compound bows are just too heavy or too expensive they are accurate but they are not ideal for long trips.

    3. Hey Lilly I think your recurve bow limbs are in the wrong order, the top limb in the video (the one with the mandarin duck logo on it) should actually be placed as the the bottom limb. I have the same bow after watching your vids! It’s great!

  1. This is a great comparison video. Very interesting. I have been wanting to get a bow for hunting as I am in the US, but I like the idea of the recurve requiring more skill. Ultimately you make a good point. Compound is better for hunting since your goal is to bring home food. Excellent explanation.

  2. Great comparison

    1 additional point

as i understand it high power compound bows require arrows made from synthetic materials
    generally aluminum or graphite
there is a good chance a compound bow would shatter arrows made from natural material like wood
in that case since losing or damaging arrows is very likely over time
a recurve is a better option for Survivalists/ Preppers
since you can make suitable arrows from natural materials
